Running Buddy Be the inspiration to a young girl and help her cross the finish line of her first 5k road race! The job of a running buddy is to be by a girl's side for this fun and exciting experience. That means running or walking at her pace, encouraging her to do her best, but also recognizing and respecting her limits. The girls do a practice 5K at their program site, but we need you to help pace them through the main event. This is a one-time volunteer commitment, for those who want to be part of GOTR on race day, but can’t dedicate regular hours during the season. Running buddies must register and pay for the race in addition to filling out the Running Buddy Application.
Become a Coach or Co-Coach This opportunity offers the most interaction with the incredible girls who make up our program. Each coach possesses great enthusiasm, strong character, and the joyful spirit necessary to serve girls effectively. All share the desire to work with girls from different races, cultures, and social and economic backgrounds, and to prepare each girl for a healthy adolescence and adulthood. Coaches participate in a thorough screening and training process, which includes a detailed application, and a criminal background check. Coaches are trained and certified in CPR and First Aid. All coaches must attend a 4 hour GOTR training session and be available to attend bi-weekly workouts which last approximately one hour each, for the 12-week season. We accept coaches who wish to start a new program at their school, or those who are open to coaching at any of our program schools. If interested, please fill out a Volunteer Application.
Board of Directors The members of our Board of Directors have a variety of experiences and talents, but all share the desire to help guide Girls of the Run of Greater Sacramento through each running season and to plan for the future of this program. We meet once a month for one hour. If interested, please fill out a Volunteer Application.
