Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the 5k run take?

Finishing times vary of course, but our fastest runners will complete the run in about 25 minutes. Most runners will fall between 30-45 minutes We will be sweeping the course at one hour from the starting time to ensure all runners have returned to the starting area.

IS THE RACE ONLY FOR GOTR PARTICIPANTS?

No! We welcome people of all ages to join us at the GOTR 5K -- both male and female! Strollers are welcome as well, but we ask that you please stay at the back of the race chute to allow faster runners to easily navigate around you.

SHOULD I REGISTER MY GIRL FOR THE 5K?

No. All Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole program participants are automatically registered for the 5K.

Are there aid stations available?

Water will be available at the start. One Aid Station will be available on the course. Each participant should plan to take no more than two servings of water at the Aid Station. Runners are also encouraged to bring water bottles along on the course. Additional water and snacks will be available at the finish line.

Where should I park?

Parking is available adjacent to Inderkum High School on New Market Drive.

Can I bring my dog or pet?

For safety, all furry friends are not allowed on the course or at the event, so please leave all pets at home on 5K day! All pets will be asked to return to the pet owner's vehicle if spotted at the event.

WHAT IS A RUNNING BUDDY?

Running buddies are at least 16 years old who sign up to participate in the 5K with their Girls on the Run or Heart & Sole girl during the 5K. Every girl is required to have a running buddy, who will need to register for the event. We encourage each girl to have their own running (and cheerleader during the race), however, when necessary running buddies can participate in the 5K with a maximum of two girls.

IS THE 5K TIMED OR CHIPPED?

The 5K is a family friendly, non-competitive event which give our girls a tangible sense of accomplishment. The 5K is an un-chipped event, but there will be a clock at the finish line for those participants interested in their finish time.

IS THE 5K REFUNDABLE?

Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
